Easy Pose is a perfect pose for calming the mind, stretching the knees and ankles, and strengthening the back.
HOW TO DO IT: Begin by sitting on the floor. For greater comfort, fold a blanket undereath you and sit close to the edge of it. Cross your legs so that each foot is beneath the opposite knee. The outer edges of your feet should rest comfortably on the floor. Widen your knees so that if you look down, your legs form a triangle. There should be a decent amount of space between your feet and your pelvis. Check that your pelvis is in a neutral position. Lengthen your tailbone toward the floor. Bring your shoulder blades back slightly, but be careful to not arch your back. Allow your hands to rest on your knees, either palms up or palms down. Sit for however long you'd like and focus on the breath. Read about meditation for a joyful life here. If you regularly practice Easy Pose, alternate which leg you place on top. If you're uncomfortable sitting, you may use a wall for support.
