Utkata Konasana, more commonly known as Goddess Pose or Fiery Angle Pose has many benefits:
- Stretches your hips and groins
- Strengthens the quadriceps and inner thigh muscles
- Нeats the body and increases circulation
- Great for pregnant women as it prepares the body for childbirth by creating more room in the pelvis
This pose is also called Double Warrior. And in Martial Arts and Qi Gong it is referred to as the Horse Stance. It's a powerful way to harness the energy of the Universe especially when you practice this at the ocean.
Start in Mountain Pose and step one foot a stride length towards the back of your mat.
Turn your toes out and your heels in.
Bend your knees deeply out the sides and sink your hips down to the height of your knees.
Bring your arms out at shoulder height and bend your elbows so that your fingertips point skyward.
From here on it's all about putting a smile on your faces, so be playful and try remembering what it was like when you were a 5-year-old running through the woods.
